Frank - Freda Parker

Frank is a retired Engineer. After spending most of his working life in the UK he now lives in the Republic of Ireland. His past writing experience includes a number of articles in specialist political and educational journals in the late 1980's. Also in 1988/9 he worked as a freelance writer of business profiles and advertising seller for a free business journal in the North of England.

In his political life and whilst working for voluntary organisations he has produced many promotional leaflets and press releases.

He recently completed his first novel which is currently being considered for print by a publisher. Meanwhile he has published it as an e-book. He is a member of the Laois Writers' Group whose anthology of poems and short stories will be available to purchase in time for Christmas 2011 with all sale proceeds going to the Cuisle Centre cancer support facility.

Creative Instinct and Mission to Explain

Since retirement he has worked as a volunteer with a number of organisations in his adopted home town and is a trainer in volunteer management. He also paints.

He claims he has always felt a “mission to explain” and writing for suite101 gives him the chance to do that. He enjoys researching interesting material and then condensing the information he finds into succinct and accessible nuggets. Emerging themes include places of interest near his home and Irish success stories; climate change and alternative energy generation. He sometimes finds that it's possible to combine two of these themes because Ireland is committed to siezing the opportunities presented by the demand for alternative energy.
